The British Kitchen Now Has an Online Shop
By Betty Richardson
They're stocked all around town at places like Egg, Sumerian, Daliah and Spread the Bagel, but now Expat bake maestro James Stockdale’s beloved artisanal bakery, The British Kitchen, has finally launched an online store. Meaning you can order the full roster of their brownies, tray bakes, bars, cakes and other sweet treats at any time.
We particularly love their selection of damn gorgeous celebration cakes for birthdays or special occasions. The lemon meringue layer cake (RMB260) is luxuriously fluffy and yields around 16 slices, and we’d come back for the banana, coconut and salted caramel cake (RMB260), classic vanilla sponge (RMB180) or chocolate, beetroot and salted caramel cake (RMB260, pictured in cover photo) next time.
As for the celebration cakes, you'll have to pick them up from the British Kitchen HQ on Jiashan Lu, but for all other products they'll deliver directly to addresses within the former French Concession and Jing'an District.
